Excuse me while I get on my soapbox for a moment…
A cold bubbly coke…a fresh tuna salad sandwich…and double stuffed oreos -
Sounds like a tasty lunch to most people…
It looks like poison to me!
All three have dangerous levels of mercury.
Before you start accusing me of being an over zealous health nut – let me just tell you about Lucy. Lucy is my six year old daughter. She is special…born with multiple abnormalities, including blindness and autism. Lucy is a vicitm of merucry toxicity. You can read all about her triumphs and struggles on her blog.
We have a country plagued with Autism and a variety of neuro degenerative diseases (ALS, MS, Parkinsons, etc) and yet we still haven’t come to t
erms with the fact that there absolutely has to be an environmental trigger. It is my firm, sincere, belief that mercury is at the very least a factor in these diseases.
The news out today is that much of the food we consume…could be toxic (I realize that two of the three pictured are obviously unhealthy with or without the mercury). It’s one thing to know that the silver fillings the dentists gives are loaded with mercury…or that Tuna has toxic levels of mercury…but to know that High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) is also tainted, is infuriating. Read the label on the foods and drinks in your kitchen. Unless you buy all or mostly organic foods – 90% of the food in your kitchen probably has HFCS in it
If you have a child with autism or you have a family history of any neuro degenerative diseases, I would strongly urge you to avoid anything with HFCS in it, as well as tuna (and other big fish that have high mercury levels), and amalgam (aka silver) fillings. We have completely altered Lucy’s diet and it has caused her to grow and develop more in one year, than she has for the past five years. Ignorance is NOT bliss! We can no longer assume that if it’s sold at the store it’s “safe.” We absolutely must be dilligent in reading lables and avoiding toxics like mercury and excitotxins like MSG. Being a conscious consumer is a good idea! /soapbox
